Understand that Cerberus is a clan, and thus has a structure which includes ranks, groups, and will certainly involve promotions of many types. If you're on this site it is highly recommend that you read this post in order to fully comprehend how Cerberus functions and get the most out of it. It's not our fault if you miss out due to lack of information. It's here, you just have to read it.
What We Do
Cerberus is a clan. A clan is an online gaming club/team comprised of members with similar interests. Conversing and interacting with clans requires nothing more than your presence. However, to be considered a member of Cerberus and the games we play, you have to be accepted. More on that will be discussed later.
For the community members, we hold occasional achievement/trophy runs (note that this is entirely community driven, meaning if no one volunteers then no runs will be held), "Game of the Week", and provide a public forum to keep in touch with friends or make new ones. Members may also create their own blogs and read others.
Additionally, for our core members, we provide a clan structure for organized gameplay. These groups are friendly and fun, but also have an edge of competition. If you are not interested in honing your skills and competing against other clans in ladders, our groups will not be to your liking. You may still play casually with us when we are not having a clan event.
Community Events
Achievement Runs: Organized and run by community or clan volunteers, these events happen once every two weeks (assuming someone is willing to lead a run) and take part in a different game each event. Those who participate will attempt to unlock as many online trophies/achievements as possible. There may even be multiple runs going on at the same time. Knowing when these runs begin requires you to keep up-to-date with whatever the community is planning. In other words, forum participation is a must!
Participating in Achievement Runs will earn you some nice perks to show off. Organizers of the events will keep track of your progress, and those of you who obtain the more difficult achievements, achieve more achievements than anyone else in the event, or are chosen as the most helpful participant will receive badges of honor which will be posted in your profile (coming soon.) Obtain enough of these badges by participating in community-driven events or clan-driven events and you could get a fancy custom usergroup specialized for you, a custom forum color, or an array of other goodies. All this for having a good time!
Game of the Week: The "Game of the Week" event happens once a month for an entire week. These are open to all registered users of the site (but only registered users). The Cerberus Administration or the community will decide on an easy-to-obtain game which we will play each afternoon for a week. This is meant to give you a break from whatever game you play with us normally, experience a different game or genre, and interact with people who would not normally speak with. These are sure to be fun, so keep an eye on the Calendar and news posts so you know what we're doing and when the next "Game of the Week" event will be held.
Joining A Clan
In order to join one of our clans, you must first submit an official application to the group you are interested in joining. Each group has it's own application form, so the requirements vary from game to game. Please allow up to 2 weeks for your application to be approved by that game's staff. And remember, just because you may not be approved for one group does not mean you will not get into another. Some groups will be more difficult to join than others due to competitive nature of some of our games.
All of Cerberus' groups do have a few things in common when it comes to applying and being accepted. First, you must be mature and courteous. Yes, we are competitive, but no, we do not tolerate bad behavior. Bad behavior to us is using foul language often (if you talk like Chris Rock, that's too much), disrespecting other gamers both in and out of the clan, mouthing off, acting as a police force (let our administrators and moderators do their jobs), or just being an immature douche. Little Timmy who makes all A's and is in AP should be able to have a good time, not just frat boys. At the same time, 50 year old college professors, doctors, etc. should be able to enjoy themselves too. If you're mature, we'll take you. Age does not factor in.
Second, you will not be accepted if you have a post count below 25. The reason for this is because we make most of our important announcements here, on the site. If you don't check the site often, you are potentially not informed (or misinformed). If you obtain 25 posts and we stop seeing you post, you could be removed from the group. Cerberus Administration DOES have authority over the people running our clans. We own the groups, we own the clans, thus we can step in at anytime for any reason.
Lastly, even after you are accepted, your membership is a trial period. During this time we see how you fit in officially for 1 month. If you do not fit in during this month, you membership will be revoked. Forum participation is highly recommended as part of fitting in means most of the members know who you are. However, posting on the forum is not mandatory.
Creating A Group
If we do not currently support a game you want to play with us, you may send a message to an administrator and suggest the game to us. Please provide information on the game, links to good sites and videos, and let us know who you have lined up to help out. Note that if you have less than 4 people we will not support the group. 4 is the minimum, 8 is preferred. To maintain control of the amount of games we support, only the Administration may approve groups, and they will decide who leads the group. Keep in mind that creating a group in Cerberus means you are more-or-less giving us a fledgling clan that you will help to build up. We own the group, and if you leave, we still own the group. That is why we handle all servers. This is also why every group must use the name Cerberus.
Cerberus Rank Structure
Our ranks are simple and, in most games, can be recognized universally. For most games, our ranks are as follows:
Rankless - No tags, though may have applied at some point.
-cc- - Rookie - Your application is being processed (you will be notified when this happens). You are not a "full" member yet, but may participate in some events which will be determined by the group in question. Wearing your tags signals to us that you are aware you are being evaluated to enter the month test phase.
[cc] -Cadet - Following your month-long evaluation period, you have been approved as a full member of the said group. You may now take part in all clan matches, clan events, etc., unless otherwise notified. You may not lead, however.
[[cc]] - Cerberus Member - Achieving your second group of bars means you passed the trial period and are a full member of the said group. Congrats!
[[Cc]] - Commander - If you are wanting to help lead, become an officer, or organize a clan within Cerberus, you must have achieved the rank of Commander. To do this, you must have been a Cerberus Member of your group for 3 months (this includes the month trial period), must have above-average skill, must be a regular user of the forum, must be able to conduct matches, form friendships, be on good terms with other clans, and would more-or-less be considered a "good" leader on any other site/clan. This rank has a post requirement of 200. Thus if you do not participate on the forums, no matter how good you are elsewhere, you won't achieve this rank. Note that this rank has some perks in additional to leading status. You are a permanent member of Cerberus itself, you may skip the first application phase and jump right into the month evaluation period of a group, and may not be kicked from a group for inactivity. You will have your leadership status revoked if you do become inactive, however. To get it back you simply need to play regularly for 2 weeks and prove you did not lose your edge.
[[CC]] - Admiral - These are the members of the Cerberus Administration and have authority in any and all Cerberus activities. Commanders will be handpicked and offered this status as needed. Typically only 3-5 Admirals will exist at any given time. Admirals who resign or take time off will be reduced to Commander status.

More information may come in the future. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask.
