Beta Test Suggestion

I would like us to cover information regarding hands-on beta testing for online games. To do this, I would like to urge everyone to keep your eyes peeled for Betas in games that look like they could prove successful. Once you find one, notify Jon, Sora, or myself and we will get a news post up with a link to the beta application. At this point I would like as many of you as possible to sign up for the beta, even if you have no interest in playing in said beta. The point is for some of us to obtain access to the beta to see how good the game is, use it for some site content, and evaluate whether or not it will be a good candidate for a clan in the future.

The current beta that I'm aware of that will be starting soon is Final Fantasy XIV's closed beta. I would like to urge you guys to sign up for the beta with an email you check daily. If you are accepted into the beta in the coming weeks you may certainly play the game, otherwise please let Jon, Sora, or me know and give us the info/forward the email so that we can get setup.

I can see this being a great way to generate some content that will not only be interesting to people who may find our site, but it could prove as a means of us choosing good games to support and we could get our name out there.

The first two I would suggest is Star Wars: The Old Republic, and Final Fantasy XIV. The links are below. Please reply if you sign up, and let us know if you will participate in the beta or if you signed up to get one of us in.

If your computer is a piece of crap just lie. Try to sound believable! Also note that for FFXIV, please sign up for PC beta. The PS3 beta was canceled and I'm not sure if that option was removed from the beta test options.

Usually companies like to have good and bad computers so that they can generate minimum system requirements at release and can optimize the game to run on older machines as well. Just saying. Also, usually you can't lie because they have a system that gathers your computer's information. You would have to spoof your hardware somehow.

I signed up for TOR beta months ago. Rummor has it beta testing will start soon given the anticipated spring release but due to NDA even if you did get selected for the Beta test you can't tell anyone.
But I can say that No I have not been contacted at this time.

Well the whole thing about the NDA is you're safe if you tell someone privately. The reason NDAs are in place is to keep the press from getting info the company may not want to be released to the public. If we keep things amongst ourselves there won't be any major problems and they wouldn't know anyway.

And yeah, I applied for the beta months ago as well.

If you sign an NDA and break it by saying something on these forums you are legally respnosible for the terms of the NDA. I won't encourage that behavior and if you choose to say something you do so at your own risk. Jase I suggest you agree with me seeing as we are the site admins and ultimately responsible for what goes on here.

Now that my disclaimer is out of the way, the LotRO f2p open beta starts either this week or next and anybody can participate.

LOL Nice.. Well there are MULTIPLE waves of testing and bio ware has stated they will be sending out multiple invites getting a wide range of testers. plus I imagine they will test bits and pecies and eventaully more of the complte game. So hopefully I get picked to test more of the completed game rather than a particular section or instance.

I remove people from my friends list who don't talk to me. You stopped talking to me, therefore I deleted you. That's not random. And though I certainly don't like some of the people you hang out with, I don't have a problem with all of them, and you personally never offended me, so it was never anything personal. You had simply become so distant that I felt you had no interest in conversing with me, especially given the fact that you hang out with Borsniel, Ozma, and that other guy who apparently has low self-esteem and raged. And it also did not help matters that I go on vacation and one of your friends joins the site and purposely misspells my name and tries to make a mockery of me as though it's offending. The fact that you allow friends to bash your other friends and can be perfectly content with that fact is a problem for me. It's because of all of the above that I removed you from my friends list and did not invite you to join the new site, and is also the reason I stopped communicating.

You are welcome to stick around and start anew. However, your friends must be tame, must have changed and grown up a bit, and must be ready to put up with me if you want to spend any time with me. The two alternatives are they never see me again, which I'm perfectly fine with, or we have nothing to do with each other. I simply do not like some of the people you hang out with.

Haven't talked to borsniel for a looong time. Never personally liked the guy, just hung out with a friend of his. And technically CollateralxDmg was a friend of his. I disassociated with them a while ago.
